Black and White Film Processing

YES!!  Local Kentucky Black and White (B&W) Film Processing and Scanning.

Kentucky Darkroom, is offering Black and White Film Developing / Processing in our area. Lexington KY, and Central Kentucky.  Exciting!

Bring us Kodak, Cinestill, and Ilford B&W 35mm and 120 films.  Great!

This is something very old but new again for our state, and with all the new film shooters and those remembering the old days, exciting!   Hey, If you are shooting something else and need processing, drop us a line and we’ll see if we can handle it!  If you have color film, drop it off at Murphy’s Camera on Winchester Road in Lexington KY.

All film processing in “KD” is done by hand, not by an automated machine.   It cost a little more this way, but we think that attention is worthwhile.

There’s a drop box accessible from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM on weekdays at the lower level lobby of 2387 Professional Heights Dr.  Simply fill out the form, put it and your film in the envelope, and drop it in the box.   We’ll do the dark magic!

After we’ve finished the processing/scanning, we email you a payable-online invoice and a link to the location of the scans on our website.  You can download the zip file with all your images.  If you want the negatives back, hey, we can mail them to you. Links to images are kept active for a minimum of 90 days… yeah, probably longer. We’ll keep the negatives that long too. We accept processing in batches of 5 rolls or less per envelope, and each batch is treated as a separate order. If you have a large (20+ roll) batch, please reach out and touch us (info@kydarkroom.com) for logistics and pricing.

COSTS:
Processing (24 or 36 exposure, even if they don’t “come out”) $9.99/ea roll
Push/Pull (put a piece of tape on the cassette and write speed) $3.00/roll
Scans (Placed on KyDarkroom website for downloading, link emailed to you with invoice) $9.99/ea roll
Mail of Negatives (1st roll) $5.75
Send scans to Murphys Camera for printing $1.00/ea roll (Pay Murphy’s for prints)

Our processing/developing is based on the times and concentrations specified by the chemistry manufacturer. We use Kodak HC-110 developer, filtered water fomacitro stop bath, Ilford fixer, and Kodak Photoflo for washing.  Need specialty processing? Give us a buzz or email to let us know.  Kentucky Darkroom Crew loves a challenge.

We don’t ask for “up front” payment and assume that even if your roll doesn’t come out, you will honor your processing payment.

Processing in “KYD” is done by folks with years of experience but daytime commitments, so we take as much as 10 days to complete any finished job. Most often, we’ll be faster, usually in about 4 days, but don’t rely on that. Rush jobs can be accommodated, but.. yeah… will probably involve bucks and Domino’s Pizza Gift cards!

As you come to our building to drop off your amazing shots on film, take a walk down the halls. Creative work our members, the Kentucky Darkroom Bunch, have made will be on exhibition in both the upstairs and downstairs halls and the exhibit is growing.

Check us out…

…let’s see what develops!!!
