Gallery Exhibitions

Don’t we love to show our work and creativity?

Yep!!

Kentucky Darkroom has a permanent gallery space in the main hallways of the office building that houses our Kentucky Darkroom.   We have arranged to put up framed images from our members and offer them for sale.  This amazing opportunity is open only to the members of the Kentucky Darkroom “Bunch.”  While the space is only open during business hours, whenever we have sufficient new work exhibited we will put on an advertised “Gallery Opening” or open house to let the community see our amazing work.

We allow any image shot on film, whether it’s been actually processed in our darkroom or not.    We know that the bulk of the work will be black and white.  We ask that the works be framed in a metal or wood frame, behind glass, hung with a wire (not the little-toothed catches), and be appropriate for the caliber of work we produce.  A few sample framed images are in the Kentucky Darkroom.  An info card with Title, Artist Name, Price, and shooting information (Film, camera, etc) and a blurb will be placed with each image.  The form to fill out for us to create the card is available on the computer in the darkroom (see “Forms” on the desktop.)

If there are any questions about the acceptability of the framing, labeling, or content (strictly G-rated), please let us know.

We look forward to sharing the work of the Bunch with the community in Central Kentucky that appreciates great art.

Kentucky Darkroom asks for 10% of each sale as gallery commission so build that into your pricing. The commission helps cover the cost of the scheduling software, rent, Adobe membership, gallery catalog, gallery open house costs, and more.

We will try and arrange other gallery exhibitions, especially during Gallery Hop, that are in one of the Gallery Hop venues.   Those will be juried based on the number of prints that can be exhibited at the venue.   The admins of Kentucky Darkroom with either jury themselves or select the members for the jury.

So join in and show your best images captured on film!
